Job Description

Senior Reservoir Engineer required for an E&P operator in Aberdeen. This position is a full-time staff role.

Responsibility for all reservoir engineering work scope covering the operated producing assets in the UK North Sea.

In addition, support adhoc projects in other areas of the organisation and provide assistance in the assessment and review of all reservoir engineering aspects of the work conducted by the operator in the company's non-operated interests.

The Senior RE will support the Team Leader and work collaboratively with Geologists, Geophysicists and Petrophysicists.

This role has the following responsibilities and outputs:

  • Responsible for working with geophysicists, geologists and petrophysicists to ensure static and dynamic reservoir models are maintained and updated.
  • Identify, evaluate and develop investment opportunities to enhance production and reserves, such as infill drilling, workovers and interventions.
  • Prepare depletion plans for producing fields, reservoir management strategies and formulate reservoir uncertainty statements and mitigation plans.
  • Prepare & document reserves estimates for reporting.
  • Prepare & document production forecasts.
  • Design & interpret well tests, liaising with the operations department.
  • Design PVT data acquisition and laboratory analysis programmes.
  • Design Reservoir Engineering SCAL programmes liaising with the Petrophysicist.
  • Provide RE support for drilling, completions & well testing operations.
  • Contribute to technical reports, such as well proposals, decision support packages and field development plans.
  • Present reservoir engineering work to partners and peer review teams.
  • Present to management and joint venture partners.
  • Provide input to data gathering strategies and pre-drill data packages.
  • Prepare relevant parts of well programmes in partnership with drilling and geoscientists.
  • Support operational during well testing operations.
  • Participate in Peer Reviews.
  • Present to management and joint venture partners.
  • Actively participate in partner meetings, both operated and non-operated.

Experience required:

  • Educated to degree level in Petroleum Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Significant experience in reservoir engineering methods as well as a good understanding of material balance analysis, fluid characterisation, SCAL data interpretation, well-test interpretation, well performance and production forecasting.
  • Experienced user of industry standard software, e.g. Prosper, MBAL, PVTp or PVTi, Pansys, Saphir, and Eclipse.
  • Experienced in risk/uncertainty analysis and development of mitigation strategies.
  • Broad experience of different reservoir fluid types.
  • Experienced in field development and depletion planning.
  • Experienced in reserves estimation.
  • Peer Review experience.
